[ENG] This is Mark Webber on his last qualifying lap during the session on Saturday. The picture was taken from the famous Parabolica corner on top of the photographers tower, I shot this at a fast shutter speed as I like the positioning of the car and radius of the corner. Ironically this would be the same spot where he would end his race when the nose of his Red Bull got trapped under the car and subsequently lost all downforce and crashed off into the gravel trap. During the weekend this photo tower is one of the busiest spots of the year for photographers, we even require a ticket to get up it which is given out by the FIA Photographers delegate. You need to reserve your spot at least an hour before the session or you wont be able to get the best perspective and be climbing over other photographers to gain a view.

[ENG] “Bellissimo” Two Ferrari’s, the old Monza banking, sunshine what more could you want in a picture?! I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to get this photo of Fernando passing Felipe in Saturday morning’s third practice session. As it later turned out this was a tactic they employed during qualifying to boost Fernando up the grid for the race by drafting Felipe down the straights, this is seen frequently in the WTCC by manufactures. I could see the two Ferrari’s exiting the pits together on a nearby large TV screen and quickly prepared myself for this shot, and when I saw them coming down underneath the bridge together I couldn’t believe my eyes. This this will be a classic shot in years to come.

[PL] Piękne samochody Ferrari, fragment “starej” Monzy, zachód słońca; czego więcej można chcieć na zdjęciu? Miałem to ogromne szczęście znaleźć się w odpowiednim miejscu i czasie by zrobić zdjęcie Fernando podczas wyprzedzania Felipe w sobotni poranek w czasie trzeciego treningu.

Jenson Button

[ENG] Here is Jenson Button during qualifying at the Parabolica, this was taken from the other side of the Photographer’s tower. I used a very low shutter speed of 1/20th second to capture this, it was so bright at even 50 ISO the picture ended up being “over exposed” too bright so by using a polariser filter I was able to give myself at least three stops which allowed me to shoot this much slower. I love this picture with the full grandstands of colour blurred into a series of diagonal lines, think this creates the picture and it would not work as well if the grandstands had not been as full.

Fernando Alonso i “Tifosi”

Fot. World © Kalisz/Sutton

[ENG] Here is Fernando spraying champagne to the thousands of “Tifosi” gathered by the podium. I think it is one of the best podiums all year for both the fans especially and us photographers. You hear many snappers complaining that the podium is not good to photograph etc etc, but you have to think laterally and be creative and you can produce some stunning results. This is my interpretation. I stood on the pit wall next to the Red Bull pit gantry using my Canon EOS 5D Mk II and wide angle less, silhouetting my subject. This camera is perfect for shots like this as it is full frame and colours are so bright and vivid.

Na koniec prezentuję Wam zdjęcie z wystawy “Magic World of Formula 1”, o której już wcześniej wspominałem. Gratulacje Daniel, swoją pracą zasłużyłeś sobie na takie wyróżnienie!

[ENG] This photo is of me with one of my finalist entries in the 10th International Photographic Award “Pepi Cereda” 2011 “The Magic World Of Formula 1”. We all had a great evening with mates and colleagues and a big thanks goes out to Ercole Colombo for organising the evening. There was some stunning photographs and it was great to see some of the best images chosen by the photographers themselves.

[PL] Na tym zdjęciu stoję obok mojej pracy, która znalazła się w finale 10 Międzynarodowego Konkursu Fotograficznego “Pepi Cereda” 2011 “The Magic World Of Formula 1”.
